How to apply the shadow on oily eyelids and make it stay put all-day

I have oily skin and oily eyelids if I don’t do the following my eyeshadow will crease and fade away real quick. This is what I do to keep my eyeshadow put all day.

  1. I use double the primer on my eyelids, first I apply MagiX Face Perfector Foundation Primer, then I apply Avon True Eyeshadow primer. That way I get double the absorption of oils.
  2. After the primers, I use a loose transparent face powder on my lid so it can absorb the moisture. I love Avon True Color Flawless Loose Powder in Universal. It gives me a smooth surface so I can start my masterpiece.
  3. I apply my eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara. Below I have included some links to a few youtube videos that give good instructions on how to apply eyeshadow (in case it’s your first time)

If you follow the steps above your eyeshadow will stay put all day and won’t fade. If you don’t have oily eyelids you don’t need to do double the primer. But I would recommend using a primer so your eyeshadow color will look vibrant all day and won’t fade.

Eyeshadow Pallets- Beautiful eyeshadow palettes, shimmer, matte and vibrant colors, such gorgeous colors that will make your eyes stand out. I like to use the shimmery colors right on the lid and around the tear duct and matte color in the crease. Let’s play dress-up with our eyes! Here are links to some great youtube videos which I think are very good and show really good step by step on How to Apply Eyeshadow for beginnersDo’s and Don’t with eyeshadow and How to use shimmer eyeshadow.

Brushes-

When applying your eyeshadow make sure you are using the correct brush. I recommend using eyeshadow brushes instead of your fingers or Q-tips. Brushes give a smooth application and the colors can be blended easily. Also using the wrong brush can throw off the entire look you are going for. With so many shapes and sizes on the market, it’s hard to know where to start. Let me give you a quick overview of the two eyeshadow brushes that are a must in your make up bag.

The Flat Eye Shadow Brush

This medium size, flat and fluffy brush works best for applying shadow to your eyelids and brow bone area. It can also be used for blending out the shadow. The Avon Pro Eyeshadow Brush with high-quality bristles is perfect for the job.

The Eye Shadow Crease Brush

This brush is used to apply the shadow onto the crease of your eye. With its small and more pointed tip, it applies the shadow with ease. Avon has a super cute 5-piece set it’s called “I Am Flawless Brush Set“. The set includes four must-have makeup brushes which are the flat brush, crease brush, angled eyeliner brush, and the blush brush. It also comes with a pouch.

Remember to tap the brush before you apply the shadow. That way any extra powder can fall off, you don’t want piles of eyeshadow powder all over your cheeks or under your eyes.

Eyeliner- Eyeliner gives drama to your eyes, use glimmer, mate, liquid, gel or pencil eyeliners to give your eyes a bold look. If you want your eyelashes to look fuller use a pencil eyeliner either dark brown or soft to jet black and apply it to the top lid water line (underneath the top lashes) and really, really close to your top lashes (on top of your lashes). Here are some great youtube videos on different ways to apply eyeliner 6 Easy Eyeliner Techniques, How to Apply Pencil Eyeliner, and Smokey Eye for Beginners. For my oily eyelids, I like to use Avon True Color Always On Point Eyeliner and Avon True Color Glimmersticks Eyeliner. They stay on all day even without having to use a setting spray.

Now for the icing on the cake the mascara, mascara will make you look wide awake and will tie the whole look together. If you don’t know which mascara to use click here so you can have an idea as to which mascara suits you.

Setting Spray- Once you have finished applying all of your makeup minus the lip gloss or lipstick spritz your look with setting spray. This will keep your makeup from fading and stay in place all day long. When you spritz your face make sure your eyes are closed.

Step out of your comfort zone and try different looks, don’t be afraid to experiment with different colors. Just have fun! I hope these makeup eyeshadow tips help. Also, don’t forget to check out my other post:
